About Raidlax and How to Apply
« on: March 09, 2014, 06:51:29 PM »
About us: Raidlax is open to members of any guild and/or server.
Currently, most of us are from the Earthen Ring/Darkmoon Faire server, however you don't need to change guild or server to raid with us. You do however, need to prioritize our raids over others.
We aim at clearing current raid content on heroic mode, preferably before the inevitable nerfs. With just two raid nights per week, we often need to prioritize progress (wiping) over farming.

We raid Wednesday and Sunday from 20.00 to no later than 23.30 server time. Most raids end by 2300 though.
We use personal loot and roll on unwanted items. When gearing up, we will also occasionally distribute loot according to where it will be the biggest upgrade or prioritize tanks.

Our raids have a relaxed, friendly atmosphere but we talk about being terrible and how to fix it if we are being terrible at something. We also try not to waste each others' time by showing up late or unprepared for raids or by going AFK outside of scheduled breaks.

We’re a rather small, active group of players. Some have raid experience back to classic content, some started raiding in Legion. We span at least 30 years from the youngest to the oldest member. We have diverse life-styles and world-views. You are required to respect that.

About you: what we're looking for in new recruits can pretty much be divided into four areas

Social skills: No drama, raging, whining or bigotry. As mentioned, we generally have a relaxed, friendly, practically civilized, atmosphere in our raids. It is hard to tell beforehand how we mesh of course.  Everyone wants to raid with mature, socially apt people and everyone would like to think they meet those criteria themselves.

Attendance: Our raids should be your priority over other wow activities. Raid progress kills should be in our raids only.
You should be able to attend the majority of our raids when things are otherwise normal in your life. Of course, holidays, exams, fml moments and so on are exceptions but on a regular month with 9 raids, you should attend at least 5 of them.

Class performance: You need a good understanding of how your main spec works and must be able to translate that into a decent output during raids. Ideally, new members should improve our overall dps/healing once they’ve caught up in terms of gear and raid experience - and gotten some input from our veterans on how to improve.
Use consumables and gear enhancements and take responsibility for having this covered before raid start. Use raid logs and modify your UI to improve your performance.
We can help you with all of the above but the initiative and effort to make it happen has to come from you.

Raid awareness: This is a pretty broad category that includes using our forums regularly to know fight mechanics and our tactics - and then translating that knowledge into awesome execution during raids. Raid logs and UI tweaks will help you in that area as well.
This area does require some time and effort outside raids but it is mandatory to passing your trial.

If you want to join us, read the "Recruitment status" post below.

About Raidlax and new applicants

Recruitment & Progress status

We are currently recruiting for the right sort of horde heroes!
Applications from those interested in joining us are welcome.
See below for role details.

If we're not recruiting your role, you're still welcome to let us know that you're interested in joining Raidlax through this forum as we will consider exceptional applicants but we can make no promises that we can fit you in.

Our focus is heroic mode progression though we start a new tier with normal mode.

----

New applicants need to show a good understanding of their spec and a high attendance through most of their first two-three months with us.

Currently recruitingDps: Yes - especially ranged!
Healers: Yes (offspec)
Tanks: closed

It is a plus if you can use more than one spec in a raiding environment but one of those should be a dps-spec.
You will be a trialist for about a month or two. It depends on your performance and attendance.
Trialists sign up for raids and roll for loot like regular members. After that, the raid group as a whole will decide what happens next.

How to apply
1) Read the above post
2) Check recruitment status in this post
3) Get your character, UI and gear (currently ilvl 600+) to a point where you are ready for normal mode of the current tier before you apply.
4) Register at this website
5) Make a new thread named after your character with the following information:
      Character name:
      Battlenet profile link:
      Class and main spec:
      Other raid specs:
      Raid experience:
Tell us a bit about yourself:

If you are applying with a friend, please note in your application if you’re a “package deal”. You do have to write individual applications so we can get an impression of the both of you.
